The mill was originally built as a cotton mill and is described as a bleachers and dyers in the ownership of Richard Bell in 1891. The mill was one of many in the area and I have seen references to 11 mills in and around Norden in the 1850's.
The mill is reported to have been destroyed by fire in 1916 although it seems to have been in use after this date, it's chimney was pulled down in 2006.
The ruins above are probably the most substantial above ground but there was evidence of many other parts of the building or perhaps other buildings in the locality.
