LIVERPOOl NOTES- 29 August 2013

30/8/2013

I was back in Liverpool yesterday morning.

Following my usual route South into the city I saw the General Cargo Ship BBC Nile (IMO 9571375, GT 12980, 2011) at Seaforth, there were quite a number of other ships in the basin but the view of the docks was almost totally obscured by vehicles waiting to board an ACL vessel presumably heading for sale in North America.

Further towards the city centre I turned onto the dock road where in one of the Canada Docks two Dutch registered dredgers and a tug were moored, the two dredgers were Johan Van Veen (IMO 9098971, GT 869, 2007) and Jetsed (IMO
8804505, 237, 1988). The tug was Afon Alaw (IMO 9298935, GT 200, 2004) a twin screw 25m shallow draft seagoing vessel operated by Holyhead Towing.

The cruise ship terminal was also occupied by a new cruise ship I had not seen before in the form of Crystal Serenity ( IMO 9243662, GT68870, 2003), she departed Liverpool later in the day for Cobh.

Closer to my destination Norwegian registered Chemical / Oil Products tanker Ekfjord (IMO 9356622, GT12162, 2009) was at moored at Tranmere, this vessel has also since left port and is en-route to Gothenburg.

Six new ships in one day is quite good, I also managed to get a few pictures.

I'm back in Liverpool on Monday so hopefully a few new ships will arrive over the weekend.

The BBC Nile departed Liverpool for Newcastle to collect a part cargo of steel, before proceeding to Newport to complete the cargo, then off to Mobile & Houston in the USA

My interest in ships and the sea started back in 2006 when I worked for a couple of years  on the banks of the River Mersey. I have since been on a couple of cruises around the Med and in the Far East and have started to take more interest in researching and photographing some of the ships and other vessels seen on my travels.
