LIVERPOOL & TRAFFORD

Yesterday found me in Liverpool again for an early morning meeting. Berthed at the Norton scrap metal facility was Fatih a Maltese registered Bulk Carrier IMO 9579327 built by Samho Heavy Industries in South Korea (Yard No.1234) in 2011 (GT 23204). She was being loaded whilst I was there and is leaning slightly to port as the scrap pours into her holds.

The ship is surrounded in a cloud of dust which does spoil the picture.  She left Liverpool this afternoon bound for Alexandria in Egypt.

Fatih was a new ship for me as was Pommern a General Cargo Ship berthed near the main container terminal (IMO 9108427, GT 2061, Built 1994) and the Crude Oil Tanker Primo Stealth which was at Tranmere (IMO 9293002, GT 58418, Built 2011). Both these vessels have since left LIverpool for Antwerp and Teeport respectively.

On the way back to Salford in the early afternoon Arklow Falcon (IMO 9527659) was at Trafford Wharf. Built by Murueta, Guernica Spain (Yard No. 284) in 2006 she has a GT of 2999 and is one of many Arklow vessels to visit in recent weeks.

My interest in ships and the sea started back in 2006 when I worked for a couple of years  on the banks of the River Mersey. I have since been on a couple of cruises around the Med and in the Far East and have started to take more interest in researching and photographing some of the ships and other vessels seen on my travels.
