ship.
I have driven passed this many times over the years but only yesterday noticed the ships name located at the top of the mast.
It is from the steam salvage ship Salvor (Official Number 181106) which was also used a buoy tender.
Built for the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board by Ferguson Bros, Port Glasgow as Yard No. 382 and launched on 24 April 1947 she was 164.6ft long with a beam of 34.2ft, 15.1m draft and 671T.
She was powered by two 3 cyl triple expansion steam engines generating 1300hp with two single ended forced draught boilers which supplied steam up to a maximum pressure of 220lbs.
Her twin screws could make 12.5 knots.
She was scrapped by Pemberton & Corlyon at Garston on 29 November 1978.
