A Happy New Year to anyone who reads my blog, I know that there are some of you out there!

This is my first blog of 2014 and also my first day back in work after just over a week off over Chrustmas. Like many people it was a shock getting up early to get into work after spending the last week staying up progressively later each night.

Santa did bring me a new bridge camara though which I am looking forward to taking over to Liverpool next week. I still have loads of photographs to publish  from the old camera which will take some time but the new camera has a much better lens, better zoom and a lot more megapixels so i'm hoping for some improved results.

Above is a picture of Nave Alderamin photographed on a very wet and windy afternoon in Liverpool back in November.

She is operated by Navios Maritime Acquisition Corporation which is an owner and operator of tanker vessels focusing on the transportation of petroleum products and bulk liquid chemicals.

They own a large fleet of modern crude oil, refined petroleum product and chemical tankers providing world-wide marine transportation services.

According to their website the charter rate for this vessel runs at $13,163 / day.

My interest in ships and the sea started back in 2006 when I worked for a couple of years  on the banks of the River Mersey. I have since been on a couple of cruises around the Med and in the Far East and have started to take more interest in researching and photographing some of the ships and other vessels seen on my travels.
