NCC HUDA

NCC Huda photographed as we passed Fawley on our way to the Isle of
Wight on 29 October 2011.

She was built by SLS Shipbuilding, Tongyeong, South Korea in 2011 as Yard Number 491. In total she is 183m long with a 32.45m beam and 12.15m  draught.

GT = 29168, NT = 11678 and DWT 45459.

Owned and operated by NCC (National Chemical Carriers) she was delivered to her owners in March 2011 and has a cargo capacity of 53,200m3 in 22 tanks.

NCC is a subsidary Company of The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) which was formed in 1978 and NCC Huda is one of 24 chemical carriers in their fleet. 

She is powered by a MAN 6S50MC Diesel engine giving a reported top speed of 14.2 knots. The vessel is also equipped with a Cummins 6CTA Emergency diesel engine and a MAN 7L23/30H main generator.

NCC Huda was attacked by pirates on 5 February 2014 at 0300 local time 11nm North of TG Berakit, Pulau Bintan, Indonesia when 5 intruders armed with knives boarded the vessel unnoticed, the duty officer on board noticed footprints in the engine room during his rounds and immediately informed the bridge. Upon hearing the alarm pirates fled in their boat taking with them some stores.
